A Wildland Fire Living History Project

The National Smokejumper Photo Preservation Project

The Smokey Generation is pleased to partner with the National Smokejumper Association to collect, preserve, and share smokejumping related photographs. This photo archive is a work-in-progress and current and former smokejumpers are welcome to contribute to the collection. Visit the website (TheSmokeyGeneration.com) for how to do so. The following collections are organized by decade, but you are also welcome to search by base using the appropriate abbreviation (Missoula = MSO, Boise = BOI, etc.). Photos are titled and, whenever we have the information, we've provided a basic description. Feel free to leave comments and/or memories.

Who are smokejumpers? Smokejumpers are wildland firefighters who parachute into remote areas to suppress wildland fires.

Stay tuned…more coming soon!
